Structural Health Monitoring System

Structural Health Monitoring System

The SHM platform built by Sinelec enables the observation and analysis of infrastructure over time. It uses periodic measurements to monitor changes in the material and geometric properties of engineering structures such as bridges, providing periodically updated information on the structure’s ability to keep performing its intended function.

The platform divides monitoring and analysis into several levels:

  • Level 1 – Data-driven: Predictive structural monitoring systems capable of detecting relevant critical issues and, if necessary, locating them and quantifying their severity solely based on data;
  • Level 2 – Model integration: Monitoring methods based on an integration of data and calculation models for security level assessments;
  • Level 3 – Monitoring methods based on an integration of data and probabilistic calculation models with the introduction of material degradation models and traffic monitoring for residual life assessment.

The main functionalities of the platform include:

  • display and processing of data from monitoring systems installed at different levels;
  • the integration of census, inspection and classification information to support the interpretation of monitoring data;
  • integration of information and comparison with available data for the purpose of anomaly management.
