In Italy the Sinelec Free Flow: more safety without stops at toll gates

The new Free Flow system started on the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway, which enables toll collection without stopping or slowing down of vehicles at the barriers. The use of this new technology brings many advantages from multiple points of view, both in terms of reducing travel time, ensuring a smoother road system, and in terms of environmental impact, limiting air and noise pollution from vehicles in the queue during payment. Also notable are the safety benefits, as the system drastically reduces the possibility of crashes near toll gates.

Based on the S*GATE technology solution developed by SINELEC, the Free Flow toll system combines the use of AI and 3D vehicle tracking, applied to real-time analysis of video streams, ensuring the highest level in terms of accuracy and detection. Through specific portals installed along the route, Free Flow enables the identification and classification of the vehicle as it passes, allowing the automatic calculation of the amount due for the section actually traveled.
