Sinelec for Rapallo’s new international tourist port

Sinelec participated in the construction of the new Carlo Riva Port of Rapallo, a completely renovated infrastructure after it was severely damaged in 2018 by an exceptional sea storm that affected the entire Ligurian Gulf of Tigullio.

The project, which started in 2019 and was completed in 2024, saw the complete refurbishment of the breakwater and structural protection works, using 1,600 tetrapods of 20 tons each, 170,000 tons of reefs and a 7-meter-high breakwater wall above sea level. The new configuration was designed to meet the challenges of climate change and ensure high safety standards.

As part of this redevelopment, Sinelec built:

  • Electrical installations, including the lighthouse building, new MV/LV substations, emergency generators, and LED roadway lighting network.
  • Utility infrastructures like electrical and water pedestals for marine vessel power and water supply, navigational aid systems, and electrical setups for parking facilities, commercial units, and service buildings.
  • Mechanical installations, in collaboration with Bouygues, including fire fighting systems, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and water supply piping.
  • Photovoltaic systems, to improve the port’s energy efficiency.

The new Carlo Riva Port can accommodate up to 250 boats, positioning itself as a strategic hub for European nautical tourism, keeping safety, sustainability and technological innovation at its core.
